Volunteer Positions and Job Descriptions

Direct Service
-You must also pass a national criminal background check.

Evening Groups: Work with teens in Evening Groups on a weekly basis (on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evenings), and twice a month on full day Saturday outdoor trips and cultural event/community service projects. You must sign on from September through June.
Time required: 5:15-8:15 pm weekly for evening group time, 9-5 pm on two Saturdays each month.

Nuestro Lugar/Our Place Teen Center: Summer hours:

  • Monday, Thursday, &Friday: 3:30 - 7:30pm
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: 3:30 - 5:30pm

Time required: minimum of 2 hours/week, for homework tutors, minimum of 1 hour per week during after school hours.

Technology Support/Website Maintenance
Assist IT Staff in keeping specific areas of the website up-to date. Gather statistical information about website usage. Available for on call technical support. Internet to do research, browsing through websites and communicating through e- mail. (ability to work remotely preferred).
Time required: 10 hours per month

Big Events
We have 5 significant events each year focusing on celebrating teens, community partnerships, volunteers and our sense of gratitude in general. Volunteers may assist with all aspects of planning, set up and follow through.
Time required: Varies depending on event.

Translation
Translate letters, brochures, and other documents from English to Spanish.
Research and identify useful translations from other organizations. Familiar
with Microsoft Word. Ability to work independently.
Time required: 10 hours per month

Office Assistant – for Executive Director, Nuestro Lugar Director, Grant Writer
Perform general office tasks such as data base entry, filing, photocopying, scheduling
appointments and distributing materials. Special projects as assigned. Sort mail and answer phones.
Time required: Varied with special projects. Minimum 2 hours per week.

Career Mentor
Assist students in developing a better understanding of the work world and potential career directions.
Time required: Two hours per week.
